I also mentioned on the post that technologies such as this (Microsoft HoloLens promises to change our world. Will it?) will be addressed at IMMERSION 2015 in Paris this September.

Final Project: Historic Boston Reference Materials

For assignment 8, I have researched regarding Boston at the time of the American Revolution and the Boston Tea Party. Also, I have looked for historically accurate maps of Boston at that time, along with information about scale, GIS data, man-made structures, and natural structures.

  • Snapchat is specifically a photo messaging application that shares photos, records videos, writes a short message and can include drawings.
  • Snapchat also has a function to send small amount of money by teaming up with Sqaure Cash.
  • “My Story” and “Our Story” have been added.
  • developed by Stanford University students - Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown.
  • Snapchat was the talk of the town recently after rejecting $3 billion buyout from Facebook.
  • photo messaging application
  • pictures are shown for limited amount of time (senders decide on time
  • hinders from screenshotting images
  • By sending pictures with a small text, we can send more effective messages.
  • Also in a recent snapchat update, the ability to video chat live with another person was added to the software. Previously snapchat only supported sending photographs and videos up to 10 seconds long, but now with the video chat feature snapchat can become a quick conference collaboration tool. A video chat on snapchat can be opened in only a few seconds, and closed immediately, removing any signing into skype or other video chat software, and can even be quicker than facetime on iPhones because connection can happen much faster, and the other person does not have to have an iPhone.

Class 9: Collaborative Web Pages with TogetherJS

This new collaboration tool work, TogetherJS, provided by Mozilla is another toll that help users to collaborate more efficiently with another users.
I first worked side by side with my friend to explore TogetherJS and later, we communicated using google hangouts. Although my first thought was that this feature seemed very similar to google docs where we could collaborate as we work on a task. However, what I have noticed was that it had much more features and applications specifically designed for various purposes.
I have also explored all of sample applications provided and I posted screenshots of using apps in below. I think once I am able to fully understand all of its features, it will be very useful to collaborate in the web.

SAMPLE APPS

Grocery To Do App

MAD LIBS

Drawing

YouTube

These are a few of various app provided from TogetherJS and these app helps you to collaborate easy and more efficiently with a friend. I have worked a bit with my team members to explore and learn about what TogetherJS offers and is used for.

Class 9: Google Docs HTML files

Screenshot after I decompress the HTML file that I downloaded from my Google Docs.
I used the document that I posted about 3D Printing.
The HTML file I opened in my web browser looked okay - able to read clearly and pictures were visible as well.

Then I logged into BC MyFile, in which was my first time using this feature.
I followed steps - first uploading the downloaded files including the image files.

This is screenshot after I managed to create a ticket in order to make it seen public.
Now I have a web link called a Ticket Link that I can use to copy and paste or email to myself or anyone else.

This is my Ticket Link: https://wfs.bc.edu/masu/3DPrinting.html?ticket=t_9E6SZrYu

Class 9: My own Prezi presentation

Prezi was very interesting to use. I first looked for the right template to use for my purpose and I came to use the template to explain topics. In each circles, in which represents the each slides for the topic, I have briefly explained Oculus Rift, Google Glass, and 3D Printing all under one broader topic about Virtual Reality. I hope people could find it interesting and useful. Overall, I think Prezi has its own merits and features that other presentation software/programs do not have, and thus makes Prezi competitive.
