Virtual Reality

VIRTUAL REALITY

The Immersive Education Initiative works to redefine our educational system with new digital technologies and virtual aspects. In past week, IMMERSION 2015 has been chosen as the official site that will take place in Paris, France. The guests and speakers, mostly education and technology related professionals, will be attending at the conference and discuss about many types of immersive technologies. The specific date is expect to be announced in March.

I was a bit familiar with virtual reality before. As the techonologies have been developing rapidly, more digital technologies are introduced and virtual reality is one form of Immersive technology that is used in variety of purposes such as education and professional practices in the simulated environment.

This concept of virtual reality in newly developed technologies is used in many places especially in military where they can virtually train like the real battle. U.S. Navy, for example, uses virtually simulated a mock VR parachute training. Moreover, military mostly uses the virtual reality for the military flight simulators.

Also another virtual reality experience that I had was through Life 2.0. Many people lives in virtual world. It shows how the power of virtual reality on psychological human behavior is very crucial. Some people even reach a point where they engages their emotions to someone who met from the virtual world.

Lastly, I also have used Second Life in prior to taking this course. It was originally used to find out what is missing in the real lives. It is also very surprising to see how and why this virtual world is so significant. Second Life displays a strong application in the concept of virtual reality.

This is an assignment from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Collaborative Computing. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
