Class 4 Assignment 3: Facebook “likes” vs. “friends” vs. “shares”

Friends
It is most basic and fundamental feature that probably any Social Networks Services has and functions to allow networks between the users. In Facebook, you can add friends by sending friend requests to people you may know. It’s commonly understood that users will send a request to people that users know in personal level, but in nowadays, users send a request to anyone that they may know virtually like celebrities or famous people. When the request is sent, the receiver has to confirm it in order to become a friend. Moreover, you can search for friends by their names, places, or things or through the mutual relationships. Enabling to see mutual friends is very beneficial feature in working on networking. This feature as well provides the privacy setting so that the user can manage to be not shown from search engine.


Likes
“Likes” is I think one of the main features or even a trademark feature that Facebook has. There is a “like” button on everyone posts and pages to be clicked by any users unless posts are privately set by the posters to hide the like button. Clicking Like button is very casual action that shows you like and enjoy that posts without commenting on the posts. Although many people click Like for various purposes including your caring, enjoying, liking, concerning, or probably anything along these lines to eventually show that you are aware of the posts. I personally click like button to show my attention and interest on a post and like pages that I want to see again and more posts on later time since it let you to connect to that page. Basic functions regarding Like button is that you can always click Like and click unlike by clicking Like button one more time.

Shares/Sharing
“Shares” is very crucial feature in Facebook or its purpose is necessary probably for any SNS. By clicking on share, you can share any posts within your networks by displaying it on your timeline and also allows to insert a message in that posts. It has a great power in networking since it allows the user to connect with people globally by virtually in Facebook. It enhances advertising power by sharing and connecting with the world through online within all of Facebook users.
